Muncie Mayor Tyler Says FBI Probe Cost City Money

Muncie Mayor Dennis Tyler told a news conference yesterday that the F-B-I’s 18-month probe of city government has cost the city money and has hampered normal work.

Tyler was stopped short by his attorney from answering questions about this week’s indictment of City Building Commissioner Craig Nichols, who now faces 33 felony counts for allegedly steering city demolition contracts to companies he owns and then never completing them, while billing the city more than 375-thousand dollars.

Tyler said an interim Building Commissioner will be appointed to fill Nichols position while his case goes through the court system.
