Several people will lose their jobs soon as Saint Joseph’s College looks to remedy its’ huge financial shortfall.
In a notice to the state, the school says 36 employees will be let go beginning April 17th. The positions include 16 athletic coaches, a director of major gifts and multiple university support roles. In the letter to the Indiana Department of Workforce Development, Saint Joseph’s officials said additional cuts will be coming.
The 125-year-old college in Rensselaer currently employs about 200 and has nearly a thousand students. But facing major financial problems, officials announced the school would close…at least temporarily…at the end of the current semester.
