Man Injured When Stabs Himself During Police Standoff

A Marion man is hospitalized in Fort Wayne after authorities say he stabbed himself several times during a standoff with police Thursday.
Marion Police say 45-year old Kevin Powell was at a local mental health agency when he was told that he needed to go to the Cornerstone Behavioral Health Center for treatment.  Powell refused and was tased several times, but wasn’t affected because it kept striking his coat.
Powell then pulled a large knife out of his coat and began stabbing himself.  He was tased again in the leg and police were able to subdue him.  Powell was flown to a hospital in Fort Wayne for treatment.  His injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.
No officers were injured in the incident.
