County Council Fills Some Vacancies

The Grant County Council last night agreed to fill some vacancies in county departments, but only after department heads did some shifting of money and personnel to do so.
Because of budget problems, the council has been reluctant to fill vacancies in an effort to save money.  But they also know that help is needed in those affected departments to maintain services.  The council last night finally approved a court reporter’s position for Superior Court Two after County Clerk Carolyn Mowery surrendered a position in her office so the court reporter’s position could be filled.
The “Chronicle-Tribune” reports the council also approved a promotion in the County Treasurer’s office.  Newly chosen County Treasurer Tiffany Griffith asked the council to promote Annie Pritchett to Chief Deputy Treasurer…a position that Griffith held until she was chosen as the county’s new Treasurer.  That request was approved.
