Kokomo’s annual Strawberry Festival almost had to be cancelled when the supplier of the berries cancelled just days from the event. But thanks to the efforts of a longtime volunteer, the festival will go on…with strawberries.
A California supplier cancelled the order for two tons of strawberries for the festival just last week because of a bad growing season. Volunteer Greg Lucas of Moore’s Pies found another supplier in Michigan and personally went there to bering back the berries.
The Strawberry Festival will go on Friday in downtown Kokomo from 11 a-m til 9 p-m…with plenty of berries for everyone.
