Judge Rules SBOA Should Provide Information In YMCA Suit

A Grant County judge ruled yesterday that the State Board of Accounts needs to provide information about how local Tax Increment Financing money was spent on the project to renovate the old Grant County Y-M-C-A building.  The City of Marion is suing developers over the TIF money, which was used to finance bonds for the project that was started but never completed.
According to the “Chronicle-Tribune,” Judge Warren Haas ruled that the State Board of Accounts should be required to provide information it may have regarding the case.  He said the State Board of Accounts would have to provide the information under the open records laws of the state.
The ruling was the latest in the legal wrangling surrounding the case, which lawyers for both sides say is still at least a year away from going to trial.
