County Council Denies Most Raises For 2019

The Grant County Council is saying no to raises for most county workers for next year…though council members say they would like to give them one.
Council members denied giving raises for next year due to budget constraints for the coming year.  County employees haven’t had an across the board pay hike since 2015.
Council members say by cutting more than a million dollars from next year’s proposed budget, they have put the county on more solid ground than this year.  According to the “Chronicle-Tribune,” a big factor in that will be the increase in the local option tax that will increase at the start of next year.
The County Council plans to formally adopt the county’s 2019 budget at their next meeting on October 17th.
