Final Area Plan Vote On CAFO Delayed

A final vote on plans to build a Confined Animal Feeding Operation in northern Grant County has been delayed.
The Grant County Area Plan Commission’s decision on plans for Nolan Holloway were scheduled to receive a final vote next Monday, but that decision has been pushed back until December.
The “Chronicle-Tribune” reports that Holloway asked for more time to make revisions in the plans that were requested by the Plan Commission earlier this month.  Meanwhile, opponents of Holloway’s plans are seeking legal action to appeal the decision of the Area Plan Commission.  The Plan Commission gave conditional approval to his request to build a CAFO that could house more than nine-thousand hogs in two building just off highway 15 north of Marion.
The Plan Commission is now expected to take a final vote on the matter at it’s December 3rd meeting.
