Marion City Council Votes Down Contractor License Plan

The Marion City Council last night voted down a proposal to create a licensing procedure for local contractors, including passing a test on the city’s building code before they could receive such a license.
City Building Commissioner Jerry Foustnight had proposed the licensing plan as a way to make sure contractors knew the city building code and then performed work properly for homeowners.
But the “Chronicle-Tribune” reports many residents and contractors opposed the plan for a multitude of reasons, so the council voted it down.
