Community Foundation To Hold Merlin Celebration

The Community Foundation of Grant County will hold a celebration on Thursday…a celebration of the generosity of a Marion man who is giving back to his community 38-years after he died.
Thursday’s gathering will celebrate the Merlin Loew Family Trust, which will give three-million dollars this year to 19 different local causes.
Loew was a successful entrepreneur who died in 1981 leaving one of the largest estates in Grant County.  But the Family trust was not to be used for charitable organizations until the last of his siblings was gone, and the last one died just last year.
Community Foundation Executive Director Dawn Brown said the Loew Trust is unique because of it’s size and because of the detailed wishes of its’ founder.
Among the charities benefitting for the Loew Family Trust are the Grant County Family Y-M-C-A, the United Way, Habitat For Humanity and many more.
