3 Charged In Marion Dog’s Death

Three people now face charges in connection with the death of a dog in late 2017, which was left chained outside in sub-zero temperatures near downtown Marion.
The dog was found chained inside a cage that was left outside near the Mississinewa River in early January of 2018.  The dog reportedly was placed there shortly after Christmas in late 2017 and apparently froze to death.  Animal Control officials and people on social media were outraged, but no charges were filed until this week.
The “Chronicle-Tribune” reports 40-year old Edward Wheatly Junior and 22-year old Dakota Dudley have been charged with Neglect of an Animal and False Informing for allegedly lying about the dog’s death.  Both are misdemeanor counts.  21-year old Robert Kirkland Junior has been charged with False Informing.
