Audit: Muncie Schools making progress

A new state audit has shed a more positive light on Muncie Community Schools’ numbers.
According to the Muncie Star Press, the 108 page audit report, released this week,  indicated that overdrawn cash balances across 11 funds from 3 years ago has now been reduced to 3 funds as of 2017-18.    Additionally, the report noted that it did not find any misuse of authority, malfeasance, conflicts of interest, personal misconduct or other abuse.
Interim superintendent Steve Edwards noted that, although they have had much turnover in the school’s business staff since 2017, they are in a “really good shape” now.
