Central dispatch moving forward in Grant County

Although the Marion Board of Works and Safety did not take action at its’ meeting Monday, the 5 members voiced a general feeling of support for the latest proposal to unify dispatch operations across the county.
A feasibility study indicates that, by putting in central dispatch, both the county and the city could realize up to 200,000 dollars in savings, while Gas City and Marion General Hospital could save up to 75,000 and 50,000 dollars respectively.  The board intends to take action at its’ June 3rd meeting.
Also at Monday’s board meeting, Korey Whisler and Tommie Isom were sworn in as officers with the Marion Police Department by Chief Angela Haley.
