Indy to recognize LGBT history

LGBT history in Indianapolis will get formal recognition in the city’s next historic preservation plan.
The Indiana Landmarks foundation identified 104 spots with historical significance to the LGBT experience in Indianapolis, from the Outward Bound bookstore to the Varsity Lounge.
While those buildings are already protected from the wrecking ball because they’re within the city’s 17 historic districts the Indianapolis Historic Preservation Commission is working on updating Indy’s preservation records and putting them in digital form.
