There is a scam going around where scammers imitate the appearance of an authentic site created to help people affected by the Equifax data.
Indiana Attorney General Curtis Hill says scammers have set up Equifax “imposter” websites, but you can notice the fake websites by spotting misspellings.
“Breach” is misspelled as “breech” in one URL, for example, and “settlement” is misspelled in other web addresses.
Consumers who believe they are the victims of scam attempts should report them to Hill’s office.
