MPD: man charged for carrying ten counterfeit $100 bills

Marion Police officers have apprehended a man accused of passing counterfeit bills.
On Sept. 3 a local business manager called MPD to report they were following a counterfeit suspect.
Police conducted a traffic stop where police say they found 18-year-old Jeffery Dewayne Cross Jr. in possession of ten counterfeit $100 bills.
Cross was charged with counterfeiting and possession of counterfeit money.
Police say they believe more cases will come in when businesses take their cash to the bank.
Known businesses that were hit are Papa John’s, Dunkin Donuts, Dollar General, Family Dollar and CVS.
