Marion man dies after being hit by car on S. Western Ave.

On Saturday night a 71-year-old pedestrian was killed after walking across an intersection and getting hit by a vehicle.
The incident happened at 10:53 p.m. at the intersection of 38th and Western Ave.
According to Deputy Chief Stephen Dorsey, Arthur Greer was standing in the southbound lane on S. Western Ave. when 36-year-old Mannette Williams, of Indianapolis, struck Greer while driving through a green light.
It is also noted that Greer was not crossing at a designated crosswalk.
Williams was driving a silver 2002 Chevy Trailblazer.
Officers advised that Greer was unresponsive. They administered CPR until Marion General Hospital medical personnel arrived on the scene. Medical personnel arrived and continued resuscitation efforts on Greer. He was then transported to the hospital.
Due to the injuries Greer sustained, he was pronounced dead by hospital medical staff at 11:25 p.m. He is pending an autopsy at the Northeast Indiana Forensic Center located in Fort Wayne.
