A Lake County man is charged for the rape and murder of a Gary woman in 1988.
Police found the body of 23-year-old Colleen Callahan in an abandoned house on Nov. 9, 1988. 56-year-old Tyrone McKee, of Merrillville, has been arrested and charged for her death, according to the FBI.
The FBI’s Gang Response Investigative Team, or GRIT, reopened the investigation into Callahan’s death in 2018.
McKee has been charged with murder, murder while committing or attempting rape, and rape.
