DNR stocking more than 80,000 catfish across Indiana lakes

The DNR is stocking channel catfish across Indiana lakes. They expect to stock over 80,000 catfish by the end of November.
District fisheries biologists say these stockings occur every other year depending on expected harvest rates. The size and management strategy for each lake will determine how many fish will be stocked.
So what’s the best way to catch one of these catfish? The DNR suggests using bait like cut or stink bait, even worms, to appeal to the fish’s strong sense of smell.
To find the best spot near you, you can use the “Where to Fish” map on the DNR’s Fish and Wildlife page.
