MPD receives grant for new speed detectors

The Marion Police Department has received three new speed detectors, thanks to a grant administered through the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute in partnership with the National Highway Traffic Safety Association, according to the City of Marion.
MPD Officer Drew Tittle now leads the departments “Operation Pull Over” program, which he took over in May of 2018. Shortly after taking over the program he completed a questionnaire about speed detecting units and submitted it to the ICJI and NHTSA.
The new detectors are valued at around $8,400. Two are dashboard-mounted radar units and one is a hand-held LASER unit.
According to MPD Officer Drew Tittle, the units are given to police departments who have a lot of success when using these devices.
