A twenty-two-year-old man was stabbed yesterday morning while walking down the street, according to Marion Police Department Deputy Chief Stephen Dorsey.
The incident happened at around 6:43 a.m. when MPD officers responded to Marion General Hospital for an individual suffering from stab wounds.
Malik Ferguson, 22, stated that he was walking from his residence to the McClure Gas Station, located at 130 S. Branson Street, Dorsey said. Ferguson stated that he was in the parking lot of the Café’ at 100 N. Washington St. when he noticed a white car behind him. He could not make out the vehicle’s make or model.
He said two males exited the car. One of the males grabbed him and the other began stabbing him. Ferguson stated that neither suspect said anything to him during the attack.
Dorsey added that the victim stated he “blacked out” and the males left. Ferguson then walked back to his residence and got a ride to the hospital.
Ferguson did not know the suspect’s race and didn’t provide a clothing description.
Ferguson sustained a gash to his left wrist and a laceration to his upper left buttock that was approximately 1” long and ¾” wide.
