Ivy Tech has a new scholarship for volunteer firefighters and EMS personnel.
The program is part of a partnership between the Indiana Volunteer Firefighters Association and Ivy Tech Community College to provide volunteers with the opportunity to earn a two-year associate by offering free tuition.
The goal of the scholarship is to recruit and retain volunteers, first responders, in areas where they are seeing a shortage, especially in rural areas.
They hope to grow the program statewide in the future.
