The Grant County Commissioners tabled a rezoning motion on a meat processing facility yesterday morning.
Area Plan Executive Director Larry Strange brought a petition to the board for a rezoning map amendment, which would allow Meat Packing LLC to continue operating.
But according to opponents of the business, the buildings are in poor shape and animals have gotten loose under previous owners, destroying crops and causing car accidents.
According to the business’s attorney Patrick Hess, the owner plans to fix fencing and take care of dilapidated buildings.
Commissioner Ron Mowery said the building was an eyesore and reflected on the county poorly. But wished to table the motion to learn more about the issue.
