MPD: Man, woman charged after confrontation involving gun at Rebel’s Pub

A man and woman are now facing charges after a confrontation with a gun outside Rebel’s Pub in the early morning hours of Sunday.
Marion Police officers responded to the bar, located at 515 N. Washington St. at around 12:55 a.m. for a subject armed with a gun.
Upon officer’s arrival to the scene and attempting to sort out the situation Sgt. Kilgren was confronted by a male, later identified as being 21-year-old Alexander Hernandez.
Sgt. Kilgren told him several times to back up. Hernandez then began to walk towards officers saying “What are you doing?” Sgt. Kilgren then pointed his taser at Hernandez’s chest and ordered him to get back or he would be tased, according to MPD’s Deputy Chief Stephen Dorsey. He continued walking towards Sgt. Kilgren, so the officer again extended his hand towards Hernandez’s shoulder in an attempt to keep him away for officer safety.
Hernandez then took his right hand and struck Sgt. Kilgren’s left forearm in a downward motion knocking his hand away from him. According to Dorsey, the officer fired his taser at Hernandez’s chest and one probe struck Hernandez in his right peck and the other struck him in the abdomen on his lower right side. Hernandez was arrested.
Bouncer Archie McClung said that a fight had broken out between Hernandez and another unknown male. McClung said that he went to break up the fight and when he did Hernandez pulled out a small black handgun, cocked it by pulling back the slide, then pointed it at him and taunted him. The suspect’s friends then pushed Hernandez out the door. McClung described the gun that Alexander pointed at him as a black compact handgun.
A Smith & Wesson .380 handgun was collected by police at the scene.
Hernandez is now charged with pointing a loaded firearm, a level 6 felony, intimidation with a deadly weapon, a level 5 felony, two counts of battery on a public safety official, a level 6 felony, and resisting law enforcement, a Class A misdemeanor.
Sgt. Kilgren reported that a female, later identified as 26-year-old Abagail Alumbaugh, got inches from his face and was yelling “What’s your name?” After being directed to remove herself some the scene multiple times, Alumbaugh continued yelling “What’s your name?”.
Due to her refusal to step away from the scene and being verbally disorderly, she was then placed under arrest. Alumbaugh was transported to Marion General Hospital for jail clearance and then transported to the Grant Co. Jail.
