Tyler Trent’s cells help researchers discover cancer breakthrough

Even though Tyler Trent has died, he is still helping to fight cancer.
Thursday morning, researchers at the Indiana University School of Medicine announced they have found a combination therapy that significantly slows tumor growth in models built from cells taken from Trent’s tumors.
The next step for the researchers will be trying to get a better understanding of how the tumors adapt to the treatments and optimizing the combination therapy.
Trent was a Purdue student and football superfan who died over a year ago from bone cancer.
