IHCDA awards Marion over $300K to rehabilitate nearly two dozen homes

The City of Marion received more than $300,000 in funding to rehabilitate 23 homes.
The grants help those with low-to-moderate income fix faulty furnaces, leaking roofs, unsafe electrical wiring and mold remediation among other potential issues.
The funding comes from the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority who approved more than $2.5 million in grants to nine Indiana municipalities.
“This program allows us to help homeowners get needed repairs done to their homes,” said Jacob Sipe, Executive Director of IHCDA. “In addition to ensuring the integrity of the homes, this work promotes independence by providing greater accessibility and ultimately making the homes safer. We look forward to working closely with these communities to identify eligible homeowners.”
Target populations for this program include individuals with disabilities, families with children under the age of 6, aging in place households, veterans and single-parent households. IHCDA anticipates that 103 of the 114 households served through this funding will be owned by or have a household member belonging to one or more of the targeted populations.
