Pop-up stations now testing thousands of central Indiana residents for COVID-19

Pop-up stations are testing thousands around central Indiana.
The department of health and IUPUI invited 10,000 random Hoosiers to get tested to see if they have the coronavirus. They say most of the data the state has on the virus comes from people who are showing symptoms. They want to figure out just how many Hoosiers may be carriers without even knowing it.
Dr. Nir Menachemi with IU Fairbanks School of Public Health, told our newsgathering partners at WISH that not only do participants have a chance to learn if they are positive, but this will also help the state.
“The person participating in the study also gets to play a role in helping Indiana better understand the spread of disease and ultimately influence the decisions that will eventually- we will have to make about relaxing social distancing and other policies.”
Testing will continue through Wednesday and the next set of random invitations will go out in a month.
