Robert Kennedy Learned of MLK Death In Muncie In 1968

Fifty years ago tonight, Senator Robert Kennedy was in Muncie campaigning for the presidency.  While in Muncie, he learned of the assassination of Doctor Martin Luther King Junior.
Kennedy traveled from Muncie to Indianapolis where he delivered an impassioned, impromptu speech to a crowd informing them of King’s death, but in doing so calmed them.  That speech is commemorated to this day at an Indianapolis park and will be re-lived tonight…50-years later.
That speech came just two months before Kennedy was also assassinated.
