The proposed takeover of Muncie Community Schools by Ball State University was the subject of hot debate Monday at the Indiana Statehouse, with testimony for and against it.
The Indiana Legislative Council heard supporters say the district needs the governance of Ball State to get back on track financially and organizationally. Opponents say privatizing schools is not the right option.
The Indiana Legislature is expected to vote on the proposal next Monday during a special session.
