Weekend Flooding Not As Bad As Was Feared

It was a wet weekend in Grant County, but it could have been much worse.
Heavy rains Thursday and Friday brought about Flood Watches for the weekend, but those were cancelled early when most of the rain shifted south.
Grant County Emergency Management Agency Director Tom Culley said that resulted in better news along the Mississinewa River, which never reached flood stage..
Culley said several county roads had signs out for high water, but no roads were actually closed.  Grant County received more than three inches of rain in most areas.  There were several locations in Blackford County that received more than five inches over the weekend.
