Marion Pantry Robbed & Clerk Beaten

Marion Police are searching for a man that robbed a local convenience store over the weekend and beat the clerk with a hammer.
The masked bandit forcibly entered the Marion Pantry in the 32-hundred block of South Washington Street late Saturday night.  The clerk saw him coming and tried to block his path by holding the door closed.
But the bandit forced his way inside and then beat the clerk with a hammer.  He then made off with cash, cigarettes and candy.  The clerk was treated at Marion General Hospital for minor injuries.
Marion Police are now searching for the holdup suspect.
