ISTA Says Teachers Might Walk Out Over Pay Hike

Teacher pay has quickly become one of the hottest topics of the 2019 Indiana legislative session…and it hasn’t even started yet.
Leaders of the Indiana State Teachers Association…the state’s largest teachers’ union…says they’ll be watching the upcoming budget writing session closely and expect Indiana’s low teacher pay to be addressed. If it isn’t, the organization will consider action like walkouts seen in other states over the past year.
Indiana labor laws would prevent teachers from striking, but not from holding some sort of event like a day of action or walk out. Such action was seen in several states over the past year.
