Legislature Debates Renewing License Fees

If you lose your driver’s license, it can cost you big money to get it back. But the state of Indiana may soon roll back those fees.
If you’re suspended for driving without insurance, there’s a 250-dollar reinstatement fee.   It doubles if it happens again. State Senator Greg Taylor wants to temporarily drop that fee to 50-dollars, and a Senate committee is thinking about making that cut permanent.
Other lawmakers want to offer a temporary deal not just on reinstatement fees, but unpaid traffic fines.
