Multiple Murders Solved in Arrests of 3

Marion Police say two South Bend men and a Marion woman have been charged in connection with at least four local murders and an armed robbery, and they may be responsible for other unsolved crimes.
A traffic stop earlier this month led to the arrest of 29-year old Lamere Jones of South Bend.  He and 29-year old Demetrius Jackson of South Bend have been charged with the murders of 42-year old Javon Blackwell, his 12-year old son Javon Junior and his 11-year old stepson Jayzon Blackwell in late December.  Jones and Jackson are also charged with the murder of 19-year old Maurtreyvian Sanders along a Marion Street in November.  They and 29-year old Brittany Drake of Marion are also charged with the armed robbery of the Family Dollar Store on South Adams Street in late December.  Police say they could be connected to other crimes and more arrests could be made.
Marion Deputy Police Chief Stephan Dorsey says the arrests are a huge boost for local investigators.
Dorsey says investigators are continuing to conduct interviews in connection to the murders, as well as other unsolved crimes in Marion over the past year to see if they could be tied to the suspects in these cases.
