Commissioners Delay Action On CIE TIF Request

The Grant County Commissioners yesterday asked for more time to study a request by Central Indiana Ethanol to increase their Tax Increment Financing district to coincide with a major expansion of the ethanol plant.
C-I-E recently announced plans to expand its’ plant on the west side of Marion, but the company also wants to increase its’ TIF district so it can use TIF money to finance bonds for the expansion.
An attorney presented C-I-E’s plan to the County Commissioners on Monday.  C-I-E wants to use a TIF bond of more than 3.6-million dollars to help pay for their planned 25-million dollars expansion at the plant.
According to the “Chronicle-Tribune,” the Commissioners said they needed more time to study the plan, but will likely make a decision at their next meeting.
