Congressman Jim Banks and Senator Mike Braun have introduced a companion version of the Pell Grant Flexibility Act, which is intended to help address the widening skills gap in America.
The legislation would reform the current arrangement to allow for grants to be used by students in skills-based programs.
Under a pilot program, Title 4-eligible institutions can apply to the U.S. Department of Education to participate. The program will be monitored and evaluated by the department of education and a report will be issued to relevant congressional committees.
