A proposed solar farm project in northern Madison County is being debated.
The Herald Bulletin reports that the Madison County Council voted unanimously to approve a resolution designating up to 700 acres as an economic development revitalization area. That’s where Chicago-based Invenergy is planning to construct a solar farm.
Supporters note the money from the lease options will help them keep their family farms; those in opposition are concerned about looking at the panels and the impact on property values.
The council will consider a 10 year tax abatement for the project at its’ May 14th meeting.
