Marion Council: CIE vote

The Marion City Council, on an 8-to-1 vote Tuesday night, appeared to have avoided a conflict that threatened to scuttle a tax increment financing package involving expansion of the CIE plant west of Marion.
The plan, which was adopted once by the council but rejected by the Grant County Council, has been brought back to the council in  revised form.
At issue was the scheduling of a public hearing on the revised TIF proposal.
Council President Alan Miller acknowledged what he called “an oversight,” and proposed holding a public hearing in conjunction with a third and final reading at the council’s first meeting in May.
The council approved the change, with councilman Steve Henderson casting the lone “no” vote.
