Charges dismissed for two in cocaine ring case

Two of the five people originally thought to have been involved in a cocaine ring that brought cocaine from Mexico to Marion have now been released.
Keith Maxey, 37, of Bowie, Texas, and Courtney Daggett, 31, of Marion have both had their charges dismissed by a judge.
Daggett had initially been charged with profiting from managing a building that manufactured, stored or distributed illegal narcotics.
Maxey had been charged with corrupt business influence and money laundering.
According to the Chronicle-Tribune, four of those arrested in January – Daggett, Roberto Montemayor Jr., 35, of Marion, Mario Guerra Jr., & Michael Maxey, both from Texas– have since been indicted in federal court.
Montemayor, Guerra and Michael Maxey are all still awaiting trial in September in federal court.
The complaint outlining their charges say the three “knowingly or intentionally conspired to distribute and to possess with the intent to distribute a controlled substance, including 5 kilograms or more of cocaine …”
