Yesterday a Marion man tried to light himself on fire after threatening to burn down the Community Support Program building, according to the Marion Police Department.
At around 12:30 p.m. police were advised that 56-year-old Lawrence Haldorf was in the parking lot of the building, threatening to burn it down.
Police located Haldorf minutes later at the City Bus Transportation depot and the suspect began pouring gas on himself. He attempted to light himself on fire with a cigarette lighter, but the gas would not ignite.
Haldorf was secured in handcuffs and taken to Cornerstone Behavior Health Center.
No one was injured.
