INDOT working to fix bad roads

A highway in the northern half of Indiana should last eight to ten years. But, many of them are in bad shape.
The weather has a lot to do with it. But, it also has a lot to do with the delays to repair those highways, INDOT Commissioner Joe McGuiness told IndyPolitics.
He said the INDOT team decides what needs construction the most by putting together an asset management plan.
They also use a truck with sensors to measure what highways are in the worst shape.
He said roads in the southern part of the state generally last longer than in the northern part because of the harsher weather in the north half.
