One dead, three injured after Friday night crash in Marion

One person is dead and three others are injured after a crash in Marion on Friday evening at around 8:02 p.m. A car and a truck were involved in the crash.
The preliminary crash investigation showed that the truck was Southbound on C.R. 400 East approaching the stop sign at the intersection of C.R. 350 North, the car was Eastbound on C.R. 350 North approaching the intersection of C.R. 400 East.
According to the police report, the truck failed to yield the right of way to the car and then struck the car on the driver’s side door. The car came to a rest in the soybean field at the Southeast corner of the intersection approximately 84’ from impact. The truck came to a rest on its top South of the intersection, along C.R. 400 East, in a pasture approximately 162’ from impact. The crash is still under investigation and toxicology is pending.
Medical personal on scene determined that the driver of the car was deceased. He was identified as 55-year-old William Sparks.
It was determined that at least one person, Emily Hillsamer, 18, from the truck would need to be flown to Ft. Wayne Lutheran Hospital, she was transported to Marion General Hospital to be flown out.
The driver of the truck was Jessica Edwards, 31, and the front seat passenger of the car Lisa Reece, 52, was also transported to Marion General Hospital for treatment. Two individuals from the truck refused treatment at the scene.
The crash is being investigated by the Grant County Sheriff’s Department, the Grant County Corners Office, and the Indiana State Police. The Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department, the Marion General Hospital Ambulance service and Grant County E.M.A. assisted with the investigation.
