The value of top-quality farmland in Indiana has declined, continuing a five-year trend, according to the latest data from Purdue University.
The statewide average of the best cropland is $8,212 per acre, down more than five percent from the same period last year.
The survey, conducted with farm managers, lenders, and farmers, compared values from June 2018 to June 2019.
The survey also found the statewide average of top-quality farmland had a cash rent of $249 per acre, a drop of 4.6 percent ($12) per acre.
