MPD: armed robbery at Friendly Market, suspect on the loose

Marion Police Department officers are searching for a suspect who robbed Friendly Market, located at 1314 W. 10th St., on Tuesday.
Police received a called around 11:31 a.m. for an armed robbery. Store Clerk, Joan Hill, 56, reported that an older white male entered the store, approached the counter displayed a handgun and demanded money from the cash register, according to a press release from MPD Capt. Stephen D. Dorsey.
Hill reported she complied with the suspect’s demands and gave him an undisclosed amount of currency from the cash register. She reported that the suspect told her to go into the office and not to call the police for ten minutes.
Hill reported that the suspect exited the store and was last seen eastbound on foot in the parking lot.
Suspect Description: older, male/white, red hat, red t-shirt and blue jeans.
The investigation is active.
