A recent joint NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll suggests that, since 1998, Americans have soured on Patriotism, organized religion, and having children; but have buttressed the belief in hard work. The poll asked respondents to rank based on importance.
“Patriotism” fell 9 percentage points to 61% very important. While more than half still think believing in God is very important, “Religion” dropped 14 points to 48%. And “having children” declined 16 points to 43%.
89% think “Hard Work” is very important, up 6%. And 41% think money is very important, up from just 31% in 1998.
