Visiting artist’s exhibit at Taylor is open to the public

Ceramicist Allison Luce’s exhibit Liminal Spaces is on display in the Metcalf Gallery of the Modelle Metcalf Art Building on the Taylor Campus. The exhibit will be on campus until Oct. 10.
According to her website, Luce holds dual BFA degrees in Painting and Art History from Ohio University, and an MFA from Hunter College, City University of New York. She lives in Charlotte, North Carolina, and on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, where she is a studio artist and educator. She has shown her work in solo and group exhibitions internationally and her work is included in private as well as corporate collections.
An avid traveler, Luce has visited over twenty-five countries. This love of travel has guided her professional career, and she has been a Resident Artist in Denmark, Germany and Canada. She has also served as Guest Faculty for Gordon College’s study abroad program in Orvieto, Italy. Nationally, she has completed residencies at the McColl Center for Art and Innovation, Baltimore Clayworks, The Hambidge Center for Creative Arts and Sciences, the GreenHill Center for North Carolina Art and the Noble and Greenough School in Massachusetts.
She has been involved in many competitive art projects throughout the Southeast. She participated in the American Craft Council sale in Atlanta in 2015 and 2016. In Charlotte, her artwork was on display on a billboard as part of the Art Pop 2016 class.
She completed a fifty-sculpture commission for the Arts and Science Council of Charlotte as a participant in their Community Supported Art program. She also received two Regional Artist Project Grants from the ASC to purchase a kiln and a slab roller for her home studio. She has served on the Board of Directors of Christians in the Visual Arts, national faith-based art non-profit, from 2010-2019 serving in a variety of different capacities.
