BSU President: Muncie Schools, BSU partnership results in teacher pay raise

Ball State’s partnership with Muncie schools is one of a kind.
The university took over the school corporation, after the state legislature granted permission two years ago.
Ball State President Geoffrey Mearns believes its helped the school district immensely and that the partnership is not likely to end any time soon.
“In just about 15 months, they’ve stabilized enrollment and they’ve balanced the budget,” Mearns said. He added that there actually was a budget surplus that went to supplemental pay for teachers last year and to raises this year.
He said it’s the first raises they’ve had in ten years.
