Now is the perfect time to get the flu shot, says Dr. Topher Doehring, vice president of Medical Affairs at Franciscan Health.
He said Hoosiers who get the vaccine at the beginning of October, can expect the immunity to last through the flu season.
The main goal is to prevent getting the flu, particularly in more vulnerable populations so they don’t experience life-threatening complications, Doehring says.
He adds even if you do get the flu after getting the vaccine, it could make it much less severe.
