UPDATE: MPD believe Sunday shooting was attempted murder-suicide, victim in stable condition

The victim of that early morning shooting on Sunday has been identified as being Shelby L. Durazno, 24.
Durazno sustained a gunshot injury to the head and is in stable condition in a hospital in Indianapolis, according to MPD Deputy Chief Stephen Dorsey.
The decedent is 36-year-old Jacob D. Engberts who sustained a self-inflicted gunshot to the head.
The shooting is being investigated as an attempted murder-suicide.
A Ruger semiautomatic rifle was recovered from the scene, according to Dorsey.
Both Durazno and Engberts lived together in their home at Arbor Homes Edition. Durazno’s two young boys, ages 10 and 4, were present in the home when the shooting occurred.
Detectives are working to gather information as to a motive that led to the shooting. The two young boys were not injured during the incident.
It was previously reported that on Sunday at around 4:18 a.m. MPD officers responded to the 4000 block of Wildoner Drive for a possible shooting.
The investigation is still active.
