Lyft launches car rental service

Lyft officials have come up with a solution for people who aren’t comfortable being driven around by untrained strangers: they’re going to let passengers drive themselves.
Lyft Rentals, a division that allows people to rent vehicles with no mileage limits. The new rental service is already hurting competitors.
The vehicles will be equipped with such features as Apple Carplay, Android Auto and phone chargers, with free options like ski racks, car seats and tire chains, according to Lyft.
The company will first roll out the new service in the Bay Area and Los Angles, with plans to expand nationwide later.
Following Thursday’s announcement, Hertz stock dropped nearly six percent, while Avis fell five percent.
